What is Freestyle?

Freestyle skateboarding is the oldest form of competitive skateboarding. While many other forms of skateboarding rely on obstacles and park features - ramps, rails, curbs, hills, cones, etc. Freestyle skateboarding is all about making your skateboard the obstacle. In freestyle competitions, riders are challenged to find the most creative, technical, and musical ways to manipulate their boards. That usually means spinning, stalling, and sliding on every edge of the skateboard.

Freestyle skateboarding and its ethos of creativity stretches far beyond the competitive stage. Whether you are learning to skate on your own or joining a local session, freestyle skateboarding is all about determining your own path and finding the tricks that you’re excited to learn.
